Racing Beat’s Type V Euro Style Bar 1990-2003 - BlackIT’S BACK! We now have these bars back in stock! Many months ago, our long-time supplier of our handcrafted covers passed away, leaving us high and dry for a source. We kept hunting for another small custom shop to supply us with these covers, and finally found a local source. Styling Change This newly redesigned Type V bar does not feature the lower cross-bar that was present on earlier models. This component was deleted from the current bar to allow compatibility with the factory wind blocker, the Racing Beat 3-Piece Deck Cover, aftermarket replacement tops with glass windows, etc... Appearance The Type V Style Bar is a departure from other style bars with its wide, aerodynamic design. This bar measures 4-inches across, which further adds to its sleek and dynamic aero-design. Hand-tailored padding and upholstery-grade vinyl lend a level of elegance that complements any Miata. The graceful lines of the Type V give hints of its European design elements. Manufactured entirely in the USA, each Type V style bar is supplied with detailed, illustrated instructions and can be installed in approximately 2 hours using basic tools. The addition of this, or any Style Bar, will add chassis stiffening to the mid-section of any Miata. Fitting Notes All of the Racing Beat style bars are designed to operate with both the stock factory soft and hard tops. This style bar can be installation on cars that are equipped with the Mazda-factory Wind Blocker in place. (Note: This bar can also be used with the aftermarket Oris windblocker unit in place.) Additionally, on the 1990-2000 Miata, rearward seat travel is not impeded, but the headrest will rest inside the upper bar. In 2001, Mazda redesigned the seats on the Miata to feature a taller seat back. This taller seat will not fit under the bar as with the earlier models. On the 2001-03 cars, the seat backs will rest against the forward edge of the bar, which results in a restriction of the upper seat back by two (2) “clicks”. Note: Vision through the rearview mirror is reduced with the use of this bar on ALL models. This Style Bar does not provide rollover protection and is not intended to be used as a safety device.
