Many months ago, our long-time supplier of our handcrafted covers passed away, leaving us high and dry for a source. We kept hunting for another small custom shop to supply us with these covers, and finally found a local source. Styling Change This redesigned bar does not feature the lower cross-bar that was present on earlier models. This component was deleted from the current bar to allow compatibility with the factory wind blocker, Racing Beat 3-Piece Deck Cover, aftermarket replacement tops with glass windows, etc... Appearance The Type V Style Bar is a departure from other bars with its wide, aerodynamic design. This bar measures 4-inches across, which further adds to its sleek and dynamic aero-design. Hand-tailored padding and upholstery-grade vinyl lend a level of elegance that complements any Miata. The graceful lines of the Type V give hints of its European design elements. Fitting Notes The Type V Style Bar is available in your choice of either Black or Tan. Please note the tan cover (1990-1997) for this bar may not be an exact color match with your factory interior. We have tried to match the factory color as close as possible with the fabric color choices made available to us. All of the Racing Beat style bars are designed to operate with both the stock factory soft and hard tops in place. This style bar will operate with the factory Wind Blocker in place. (Note: This bar will function with the aftermarket Oris windblocker unit in place.) Additionally, on the 1990-2000 Miata, rearward seat travel is not impeded, but the headrest will rest inside the upper bar. With the 2001 model year, Mazda introduced taller seats that will rest against the upper bar, not inside as with earlier models. This restricts the rearward movement of the seat back by two “clicks”. Rearward vision is reduced with the use of this bar. Manufactured entirely in the USA, each Style Bar is supplied with detailed, illustrated instructions and can be installed in approximately 2 hours using basic tools. The addition of this, or any Style Bar, will add chassis stiffening to the mid-section of any Miata.
