Mazda Miata Steering Shaft Adaptor

Finally a high quality billet Aluminum steering shaft adaptor that utilizes the stock Mazda steering shaft splines and stock nut. No welding!

Once you remove your stock steering wheel, simply slide the steering shaft adaptor over the steering shaft and the put the stock nut back on and you are done. This steering shaft adaptor has female splines on the inside that index the male splines from the stock steering shaft and uses the stock taper on the steering shaft so it works just like the Mazda factory steering wheel setup.

Once the steering shaft adaptor is in place you have the 6 bolt steering wheel pattern used by most steering wheel (Sparco, Momo, OMO) and quick disconnect manufacturers. You can install an steering wheel directly to it without a quick disconnect, or you can bolt in a quick disconnect in between the adaptor an the steering wheel.

This setup is completely modular, so from there you can add (optional parts) steering spacers in 1/2” or 2.5” increments to put the steering wheel exactly where you want it.

This part is a race car part and not a street car part on a race car. Take a look at the last image in the gallery to see what happens to street car parts that get put on race cars. The part in question has a cheap cast splined section and the stand offs that push the steering wheel closer to the driver were not designed to withstand the forces and abuse we put them through in a race environment.

Quick Disconnect Options:

Option 1 - DPI Splined Quick Disconnect. This is the same QD we use on our thread/weld on Splined Steering Shaft Adaptor product. This QD is very nice and economical. it has 3 index points where most only have 2 points which eliminates slop and gives a nice solid feel. The only downside to this QD is that it splined and the steering wheel could be put on and not be straight if not aligned properly when putting it on. A simple paint line on the top of the QD and the Male portion of the QD will give you an indicator for straight. This QD can be removed with 1 hand. Made in the USA.

Option 2 - NRG Quick Disconnect. This is a very popular quick disconnect and is reasonable for the money. It will only go on one way, so you are guaranteed to have the steering wheel in the proper position when installing it. It is my opinion that this is a "Fast and Furious" street car piece and is way too big and bulky for a race car. This QD requires 2 hands to remove it with an un modified part. Made in China.

Option 3 - Sbox Engineering Porsche style Quick Disconnect. This piece is amazing. Super light weight and has ZERO slop. It only allows the wheel to go on one way making sure it it always in the proper position. This QD can be removed with 1 hand. Made in the USA.

Option 4 - You can add your own Quick Disconnect that utilizes the Momo/Sparco/OMP 6 bolt european bolt pattern.
